Uniden Voice for Retail

The customer in front of you, or the one on the phone. Retail makes you choose.

You only have two hands. So the phone rings out, the caller hangs up, and they buy the same thing from the shop three doors down. Uniden Voice puts an Australian sounding AI phone agent in front of your line, so nobody has to choose again.

The bit nobody counts

A missed call is not a missed call. It is a docket you never printed.

Every other leak in a retail business gets measured. Shrinkage gets counted. Wastage gets counted. Foot traffic gets counted with a sensor above the door. The phone is the one channel where you lose money all day and never see a number for it.

1Nobody leaves a voicemail any more. They hang up at the fourth ring and tap the next result in the map. Your missed call is somebody else's sale, in under ten seconds.
2The caller was the warmest lead you had. They already knew what they wanted. They were checking you had it before they got in the car.
3You have no idea it happened. No alert, no report, no line in the POS. The only trace is a slightly quieter afternoon.
Six things every retailer says out loud

You have said at least four of these this month

These are not phone system problems. They are trading problems that happen to arrive down a phone line.

01

You cannot serve two people at once

The counter always wins, and it should. But that means the phone becomes the channel you deliberately neglect during your busiest, most profitable hours. The better your trade, the more calls you lose.

The AI agent picks up on ring one, every time, while you keep selling.
02

The same five questions, all day, forever

Are you open. Where do I park. Do you have it in my size. Is it cheaper than the website. Has my order come in. Hundreds of times a week, and not one of them needs a human being.

Answered instantly from what you have told the agent about your shop.
03

Peak trade triples the calls, not the staff

Black Friday, Christmas, stocktake sale, Mother's Day. The four weeks that carry your year are the four weeks your phone is least likely to be answered, because everyone is on the floor.

Capacity that scales with the queue, not with your roster.
04

Two shops, one number, no overflow

Open a second store and the phone gets messy fast. Calls land at the wrong shop. Nobody can cover for anybody. Customers get told to hang up and dial a different number, which they will not do.

One number, routed by store, by hours, with overflow between sites.
05

Casual staff turn over every school holidays

A phone system nobody can operate is a phone system nobody uses. Transfers get fumbled, calls get dropped, and the new starter just says "let me get someone" and puts the handset on the bench.

Apps a casual already knows how to use, and flows set centrally.
06

You cannot report on what you never heard

You know your best selling line to the dollar. You have no idea that fourteen people rang last week asking for something you do not stock, or that eight of them asked about click and collect.

Every call recorded, transcribed and summarised into demand you can read.
Watch one of them get saved

6:42pm. You closed at six. The sale happens anyway.

This is the call that used to ring out into an empty shop. Here it is being answered by a Uniden Voice AI phone agent, in an Australian accent, from what you told it about your business.

It sounds like it is from here. Genuine Australian voices, not a call centre accent and not a robot reading a script.
It knows your shop. Trading hours, locations, parking, services, product and price information, and whatever your systems expose through the integration.
It hands over the moment it should. Complaints, refunds, anything sensitive or unusual goes to a human, with the context already gathered.
It leaves a paper trail. Recording, transcript, summary and next action, sitting in your systems before the customer has put the phone down.

AgentGood evening, thanks for calling. We have actually just shut for the day, but I can still help. What are you after?
CallerOh, hi. Do you have the cordless drill kit, the 18 volt one, in stock? The blue one.
AgentWe do, yes. We have three of those on the shelf at the Parramatta store and two at Blacktown. Would you like me to hold one under your name?
CallerYes please. Can you do that until tomorrow lunchtime? And what time do you open?
AgentDone. We open at eight thirty tomorrow and I will hold it until one in the afternoon. Can I grab a first name and a mobile number for the tag?
CallerDan, oh four one one, two three four, five six seven.
AgentThanks Dan. It is set aside and I have just texted you the details and our address. See you tomorrow.

Stop asking customers to work out which store to ring

Publish one number. Everything behind it is yours to shape: by store, by trading hours, by queue, with the AI agent catching whatever a human cannot get to.

Trading peaks

Your phone volume has a Christmas problem

Retail call volume is not flat. It spikes exactly when your team is least able to pick up, and no roster on earth fixes that economically. You cannot hire a receptionist for eleven days in November.

An AI agent does not need a roster. It absorbs the whole peak, hands the good ones to your team, and costs the same in February as it does on Boxing Day. The rest of the year it just quietly stops your after hours calls from disappearing.

Your phone should know who is calling before you do

Uniden Voice connects to more than a thousand apps, including the ones retailers actually live in, so a call arrives with a customer attached to it rather than just a number.

01 · ON THE RING

Screen pops before you say hello

The caller's name, their last order and their loyalty status appear on the handset or the app as it rings, so the first thing out of your mouth is their name and not "who am I speaking with".

02 · DURING THE CALL

Click to call from anywhere

Ring a supplier from the purchase order, or a customer from the sale, without ever typing a number. Fewer wrong numbers, and every call logged against the right record automatically.

03 · AFTER THE CALL

Notes that write themselves

Recording, transcript, AI summary and the next action land in your CRM or your shared drive. No staff member has to remember what was promised on a Saturday.

Why Uniden, and not the other twelve

A phone brand your customers already trust, running your shop's front door

Plenty of platforms will sell you AI. Very few of them are Australian, and almost none of them have been making the handset on your counter since 1966.

Onshore, end to end

Designed and built in Australia, hosted in Australian datacentres, and supported by Australians you can actually get on the phone. Your customer conversations do not leave the country.

An accent that lands

The AI answers in a genuine Australian voice. It matters more in retail than anywhere else, because a customer who thinks they have reached an offshore call centre hangs up.

Counter, pocket and back office

The EVOC2 desk handset where you need something solid to grab, plus real Uniden apps for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android. Same number, wherever the staff member is standing.

One provider, one bill

Keep your numbers including 1300 and 1800, and take the NBN connection from us too. Fewer vendors to chase when something goes wrong in the middle of a sale.

Straight answers

The questions retailers ask us first

Can an AI agent really answer stock questions?

It answers from whatever you give it. Trading hours, locations, parking, delivery, returns policy, services and price information are straightforward, because you tell the agent once during onboarding and it never forgets.

Live stock levels depend on what your point of sale or catalogue can share through an integration or an API. Where that connection exists, the agent can quote availability by store, as in the example above. Where it does not, we set the agent up to take the enquiry, promise a callback and put it in front of your team with the product already identified. That is still a saved sale.

What happens when the AI cannot help?

It hands over, and you decide where. Complaints, refunds, warranty disputes, anything sensitive or unusual can go straight through to a person, to a specific queue, or to a manager's mobile.

The customer is not asked to repeat themselves either. Whoever picks up gets the context the agent already gathered. Outside trading hours the agent takes the details, sends an SMS confirmation and queues the callback for the morning.

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. Number portability is standard, including 1300 and 1800 numbers, so the number on your shopfront, your van, your bags and forty thousand Google results stays exactly as it is. We port it across and cut over with the changeover planned around your trading hours, not ours.

We have three stores. Does it handle that?

That is where it earns its keep. You advertise one number and we route behind it: by store, by time of day, by queue, with overflow so a call at a flat out shop rings at a quiet one instead of ringing out.

Each site can keep its own greeting and its own direct number as well, if that suits how your customers already ring you. Reporting rolls up across all sites so you can finally compare how each shop handles its phone.

Will my casual staff be able to use it?

Yes, because it looks like the apps they already use. Calls, transfers, messages and internal chat live in one Uniden app on the desktop or their phone, and the EVOC2 desk handset is a desk phone that behaves like a desk phone.

Anything clever, such as who a call reaches at 4pm on a Sunday, is configured centrally by you. New starters do not need to learn any of it. They just answer.

What happens if the internet drops mid trade?

Calls keep flowing. The mobile app keeps working over 4G and 5G, so staff can answer on their handsets while the shop connection is down, and call flows can be set to divert to mobiles automatically.

You can also take your NBN service from Uniden Voice, which means the connection and the phone system are one provider with one support number, instead of two companies each suggesting the problem belongs to the other.

How long does it take to get running?

A single shop can be live quickly, because the apps need no hardware and the handsets arrive ready to plug in. The part worth doing properly is the call flow and the AI agent's knowledge of your business, and we build that with you rather than handing you a manual.

Number porting is the one step with an external timeline, so we usually run your new setup alongside the old line until the port completes. You never trade a day without a phone.
